Hi, I'm Madeline. I’m a Harvard Law School graduate working in the federal courts. Previously, I worked for the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama, where I worked for attorney Bryan Stevenson opening the nation's first slavery museum and lynching memorial.

Prior to that, I lived in Greece, where I spent about six months volunteering in refugee camps and working as a freelance writer. I’ve published journalism in The Intercept, Quartz, Forbes and Outside, and have covered humanitarian issues from Afghanistan to Venezuela.  You can find some of my work on this website. The photos on this page are from Bamyan, Afghanistan.

I started my career at Google and spent five years on the Google.org and Latin America small business teams. I speak Spanish and French fluently, plus some rusty Portuguese and Arabic (with ever-dwindling confidence). I hold an MPA and BA from NYU and hail from Pennsylvania.
